Large-Format Bathroom Remodel in Midtown Atlanta Condo
This full bathroom renovation in a Midtown Atlanta high-rise condo involved tiling the floor, the shower surround, and the back wall with large-format beige porcelain in a warm travertine-look finish. The building is a concrete slab construction, which simplified the substrate preparation considerably compared to wood subfloor work. We verified slab flatness and moisture levels before setting and applied a skim coat of self-leveling compound to address a low spot near the shower drain.
Coordinating access in this Midtown building required booking the freight elevator for material delivery and scheduling wet saw cuts during permitted construction hours. The tile layout was planned so that the full-height shower wall tiles align with the floor tile grid, creating a continuous visual pattern from floor to ceiling. Grout joints are 1/16 inch, which is at the narrow end for large-format porcelain, requiring precision during setting to keep joints consistent.
